Designer Spotlight: Christophe Decarnin

Christophe Decarnin is the French designer that brought Balmain to life and did the creator, Pierre Balmain (1950s) Justice! If you don’t recall Balmain, I’m sure you recall seeing numerous amounts of celebs wearing the “Michael Jackson” looking jackets lately, or even dresses/shirts with the square shoulders ? Well that is, Balmain. An AMAZING French brand, with a “dirty sex appeal. This guy creates $1,500 Cotton t-shirts & $5,000 ripped acid wash jeans. To Balmain, that cotton t-shirt is probably the lest expensive item you’ll see. “At some level these kinds of prices are offensive. Decarnin said the prices reflect the quality of workmanship and fabrics, as well as the company’s limited structure.”  Once he took over from previous designer, Laurent Mercier, Balmain Sky rocketed! Starting trends and making bold statements on the red carpet. He is absolutely amazing.

While people are still wondering, where are you Yeezy? Kanye West is seeing his name brought back into the limelight, this time for more positive reasons. While Kanye's been somewhat quiet on the music scene he's seeing the countless hours of studio time and production for his debut project paying off.

Kanye has been deemed as the man with the #1 album of the last ten years. According to Entertainment Weekly, Kanye'sCollege Dropout is a classic, so much so that it's worthy of the title of 'top album of the decade.'

The list of ‘Top Albums of the Decade' from the entertainment wire hit the net today and already has the internet abuzz with debate.

Following behind Yeezy on the list is his mentor/ friend/ Roc Nation President, Jay-Z.

Jigga came in at #2 on the list with the very first installment of his Blueprint trilogy, 2001's The Blueprint. Other notables are Big Boi and Andre 3000 of the legendary team Kast, whose Stankonia album landed at #4.

New York's Christmas Tradition

This is a tradition New York has been known for, on going for 77 years now ! It's said that New York's most famous Christmas tree helps bring in 750,000 people to the center during the weeks the tree is lit. That's about 400,000 more people than visit on an average day the rest of the year ! With tourists around the world & locals New Yorkers.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree stands lit in front of the General Electric building in New York's Rockefeller Plaza during the 77th annual tree lighting ceremony Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Today me & daphh visited the tree during some runs in the city. Here's our own personal shot. :)

Life is about change & upgrading. We have officially decided to leave Blogger.com & make lipstick & labels into an officialy website. It will have the SAME great content ! Just a WAY more proffesional layout for our readers entertainment. We're also working on a few more surprises, which i rather not speak on just yet till contracts are signed ! Now the reason I started a blog was NOT to be in the trend. My passion has always been writing, fashion, & networking. three things blogs offer. I always had a dream to start my own magazine. Especially after interning at two. I knew it was were i wanted to be in fashion. However, the internet has taken over the Magazine industry. Therefore I am willing to take that risk to join the competitive online magazine industry. I love competition. It makes me work harder. Being the founder of Lipstick & Labels I am proud to say, Thank You ! We truley do appreciatee ALL off our readers from all over the world !
